After the violence against our diverse LGBT communities in Orlando, many in the DC area have responded with nationwide calls for healing, justice, and collective action. In light of the emotional, visceral reaction that has been felt through the country, the DC Anti-Violence Project seeks to also highlight the motivation that has been sparked around more local, community-oriented needs.
WERK for Peace was invited by the DC Anti-Violence Project to perform as a part of Taking the Stage, Taking a Stand, an event which will bring together LGBT artists, performers and community members to perform in a safe, LGBT-affirming space, and to share their art and talent as well as their connections to violence prevention and healing from violence.
Join us! We will be closing out the event to end on a positive, loving, queer-affirming note! You betta' WERKKK!
