All in one place.
Everything you need to know about creating a dance protest.
All in one place.
WERK for Peace and a number of local, national, and international partners are werking to assemble a comprehensive, interactive activist toolkit that will serve as a resource for all queer and trans individuals around the country (and world) who want to put together a bad-ass dance protest in their locality. There are lots of things to consider when planning a protest in general, and additional considerations for a dance protest. Given our collective expertise, our toolkit will give you everything you need to know to get to WERK.

We strongly believe in the values of intersectionality, sustainability, and peace, and we have found that dance protests are most effective when they adhere to certain organizing principles. We want to make sure activists are empowered with these principles and guidelines.
There are lots of things to remember when planning any protest, so having a checklist will alliviate a lot of stress off organizers. The list will be put together by our diverse cohort of advisors to make sure we are remembering everything.
Especially for new organizers, it can be difficult to know where to start when planning a protest. This step-by-step guide will provide the neccessary structure to support new and seasoned organizers in planning and executing protests of any kind.
How do you assemble a sound system? How do you write and send a press release? These and many other questions are easier answered through a short video or detailed guide. Our toolkit will be a interactive digital space for activists to learn and grow.
We can't do this alone. Join us in creating a toolkit that will create a new paradigm for protest and empower organizers in every locality to take joyful, celebratory action in response to bigotry and hate.
